Hi,

 I am trying to install TeX/LaTeX on my sun workstation. I am no sysadmn but
just a regular user. I got the tar files from one of the ftp sites. Is it
possible to install the package in my user directory? I tried to do 'make
install'. But it failed for target 'install-exec' saying mkdir: /user: per-
mission denied. I tried to give different paths such as /my_username/TEX/user/
local but still same result! What do I do? Can a regular user install such a
package in his own directory or is it only a privilege of sysadmn?

  Also, the documentation for installing the package is confusing! I don't
know where to start from. Can you give me starting points? The make install
I ran on was for web2c-6.1/kpathsea.
